OK, Back to Work

2 1/2 weeks I been away. Not really away, though. Just not posting entries. Don't worry, it's not your fault.

I got pretty busy at work and when that happens, I am focused to the exclusion of most everything. This is no MBA thing, just the occasional period where job stuff takes over my mind. Now, I like it when it happens, because things that take over my mind are usually diversions or problems or some sinister combination of all these. And things at work are usually NOT mind taker-overs; work tends to be more of the "Lord!—she's crazy!" variety.

So as I got to the height of work taking over my mind, my partner insisted we go to the ocean and get away from the pressures that work had imposed on her. So we went and had a great week, walking hand-in-hand instead of bickering. Talking about stuff and getting each other's sense of humor, instead of pressing our individual case for how to pay the property tax. Sleeping soundly and completely, instead of passing out after "Seinfeld" reruns and arising like zombies when the bell sounds morning and drudgery.

What a week...Yes, a great week. Except the previous weekend I pulled a muscle in my back when I sneezed while putting on a sock. This after a bike ride on a beautiful COLD day with too little winter gear on. After a week off the bike because the winter storms kept me inside—getting pretty busy at work and job stuff taking over my mind.

So I'm relaxing at the cafes, breathing sea air and recuperating from work life, at the same time I was unable to rise from any chair, clenching my face and grunting with each breath, struggling to heal a body broken by a bad joke by the socks gods.

(Next time, Your Excellencies, could you just mismatch a pair that's really obvious with my green suit? With all due respect, of course...)Dopey—get it?

Meanwhile, I got a prescription for this radical spasm relaxer that kept me from controlling inadvertant deliveries of saliva with key sentences; like, "'skyooz me!—Can we get more water? ("glerble blorlp...") ("Eeeww!" she thinks, "more water is the last thing you need..")

Did I say great week? Yes, well....

I get back to work, my back still glerble-ing my abilities to do anything, and I pick up right where I left off, job stuff taking over my mind. Then I bit my lip at dinner.

glerble blorlp...

My dear friends, I am back at Leading Opinion because it's all I have. glerble blorlp...
